Scow

Scow

You can use a Scow to dispose of waste in a star. If a Scow is used in this manner it is reusable and will return to your planet after disposing of its load. This process can be automated via the 'Waste Chain' tab of the Trade Ministry. If possible, they will fill completely with waste but can also travel partially full.

If sent by a Spaceport, a Scow can crash into planets of yourself or other players to deliver waste. Crashing Scows into one's own planet is a common mistake of newbies since they are not aware these ships need to be pushed via the Trade Ministry or Subspace Transporter in order to get docked. Any successful crash will result in the Scow to be destroyed. If the target colony is overwhelmed by the waste, it will result in a pollution and decrease happiness.

WARNING: Be aware that waste chains (see Trade Ministry) will cause a reduction of happiness production on your colony if there is a lack of waste. A higher disposal rate than happiness production leads to a negative total happiness production.

There are now a number of different types of Scows which require a minimum level of a Shipyard and Waste Sequestration Well in order to be able to build them. Scows have also had the new Berth attribute applied to the newer versions.

Playing Tip: Scows are used very heavilly in combat. The waste that they dump can be used to reduce the happiness of the colonies that they are sent to which later can allow the spy assignment Insurrection, or it can make a colony almost litterally non-functional due to increase build times for anything on that colony.
