- Acronym Guide
Greetings all, this is Earth Republic here! So, you've started playing The Lacuna Expanse, but you're being confused by all the acronyms people are using here, right? Well, have no fear, I am here to help! The following is a list of most major acronyms used in TLE, but you may still come across some that aren't listed here. If you find an acronym not listed, by all means, add it to the list!
A ship's berth level determines the minimum level of a Space Port that is required to make the ship usable.
- Cargo Ship
Cargo ships are a class of ships used to trade goods. They can also be used to harvest ore from mining platforms and to transport spies to or from remote colonies. Also, if you're a good ship maker, your ships will often go for high value on the open market. Shipping goods between colonies is called 'Pushing'. You can initiate a push by going to the the Trade Ministry and clicking on the 'Push' tab.
- Colony Ship
Colony Ships are used to colonize a new planet. They turn into a Planetary Command Center upon landing, and they carry all the necessary people and supplies to start a colony. When you send a colony ship the necessary happiness is subtracted from the planet:
"Single use robotic defense weapon, that can stop enemy attacks before they reach your planet." in-game description
"Robotic explorer that searches remote bodies looking for artifacts." in-game description
"Piloted defense ship that can stop enemy attacks before they reach your planet. Can also be sent to defend other bodies." in-game description
- Fissure Sealer
A fissure sealer is a ship which can reduce the level of a fissure on uninhabited planets and eventually destroy it.
Freighters are a huge variant of a Cargo Ship. They can carry double the cargo of a standard Cargo Ship, which means you can do more with less. Freighters are a berth level 15 ship.
The Galleon is a mid-range transport ship somewhere between a Cargo Ship and a Freighter. However, it is exceptionally fast for its size. You can build the Galleon after Trade Ministry level 15. The Galleon is a berth level 10 ship.
- Gas Giant Settlement Ship
Gas Giant Settlement Ships can be sent to gas giants to turn into plans for Gas Giant Settlement Platforms. Their level is determined by the gas giant lab's level of the colony the ship was sent from.
The Hulk is a super freighter. It's is terribly slow, but it can carry an exceptional amount of cargo. You can build it after Trade Ministry level 25.
- Mining Platform Ship
The mining platform ship deploys into a mining platform that allows you to harvest resources from asteroids.
- Observatory Seeker
An Observatory Seeker is a variant of a Snark, except that it will only strike an Observatory, Oracle of Anid, or Temple of the Drajilites.
"Use to fake an attack on another player." in-game description
"Send to a star to allow you to view the bodies orbiting that star." in-game description
"Robotic explorer that snaps a photograph of the surface of a remote planet." in-game description
- Security Ministry Seeker
The Security Ministry Seeker is a variant on the Snark that only targets the Security Ministry or Gratch's Gauntlet. If neither exists on the target planet, it will turn around and return to base. If the Security Ministry and Gratch's Gauntlet have been reduced to 0%, it will still hit the wreckage.
- Ship Attributes
Base to max values of ship attributes. Note that actual lowest stat for a ship may be higher due to minimum building requirements. Also, there are ships available via Mission Command that fall outside these ranges.
Ships are entities that are used for purposes of transport, offence, defence, reconnaissance, deception, and deployment into other entities, etc depending on their type.
The Snark is a robotic war ship that can be built at the Shipyard after you build a Munitions Lab to level 5. Upon arrival to the target planet, it detonates itself above buildings, reducing their efficiency. Upgraded versions have multiple warheads that can hit different buildings.
- Spy Pod
"Stealthy one way transport for a spy." in-game description
- Spy Shuttle
A Spy Shuttle is a larger variant of a Spy Pod. It is a one way craft capable of carrying up to 4 spies. It is fast and stealthy, though not as fast or stealthy as a Spy Pod.
"Allows you to claim a planet prior to your colony ship arriving." in-game description
"Robotic explorer that snaps a photograph of the surface of a remote planet, and also identifies the buildings in the photograph." in-game description
